It starts with the little guys: tiny plant-like characters with leaves, buds and flowers sprouting from their heads, wandering through an oversized world of grass, petals and pebbles. Small, colorful and instantly recognizable — exactly the kind of characters the internet can't help but love.

THE TIMELINE NOTICES
Recognizable characters have a way of taking over timelines. A screenshot becomes a reaction image, a reaction image becomes a running joke, and the running joke becomes its own corner of the internet. With fresh attention on Pikmin, the little guys started popping up everywhere.

PIKMIN DAY
In 2026, Nintendo announced November 1 as Pikmin Day. The date comes from the original red, blue and yellow Pikmin themselves — line them up and they look a lot like 11/1. The day was marked with a Pikmin Day Direct.
That's an official franchise celebration by Nintendo — not a memecoin event, and Nintendo has nothing to do with $PIKMIN.

Nintendo chose November 1 because the original red, blue and yellow Pikmin, lined up, look like 11/1. They celebrated with a Pikmin Day Direct, and on the day Nintendo of America shared a new Hello! Pikmin short movie on X.
